Moncler today unveils the latest edition of Re/Icons, its project dedicated to revisiting landmark designs from the brand’s 74-year archive. For fall 2026, the focus is on four core jackets, the Karakorum, Verone, Himalaya and Tibb, each reworked with new materials, proportions and details. For the first time, Re/Icons is also expanding beyond outerwear, building a larger collection of complementary pieces including windbreakers, T-shirts, pants, skirts, and accessories.

“I always look forward, but I never wanted Moncler to become disconnected from its roots,” says Remo Ruffini, Moncler’s chairman and CEO. “Our story began alongside pioneers such as Lionel Terray, Achille Compagnoni, Lino Lacedelli and Walter Bonatti: people with the courage to challenge the limits of what was possible. That pioneering heritage gives us authenticity and credibility, and with Re/Icons we bring its energy into today.”

Those roots go back to 1952, when Moncler began in the French Alps as a maker of tents and sleeping bags. The down jacket followed after mountaineer Lionel Terray, recently returned from Canada, told founder René Ramillon about the remarkably warm, lightweight feather-filled jackets he had encountered there. Moncler soon became associated with high-altitude climbing: its jackets were worn by three of the alpinists Ruffini mentioned on the Italian expedition that made the first successful ascent of K2 in 1954, and later moved into European ski culture after the brand outfitted the French team for the 1968 Winter Olympics.

By the 1980s, Moncler had also migrated from the mountains to the city, as its puffers became part of the uniform of Milan’s Paninari, the post-prep youth tribe of the time. The Paninari anticipated Moncler’s much more broadly adopted transformation this century into a major player in street fashion.

That history is embedded within this Re/Icons collection. The Karakorum reprises the jacket created for the 1954 K2 expedition, now in modern 10-denier micro-ripstop. The Verone (my favorite) revisits the Paninari-associated style of the 1980s. The Tibb reworks an ’80s sleeveless gilet (very Marty McFly). The Himalaya returns to a design introduced in 2009 that subsequently evolved into the Moncler Maya. The collection goes on show in Paris today and tomorrow at Il Rifugio, a newly renovated private space within Moncler’s Champs-Élysées store. It will pre-launch there on October 8, followed by a dedicated pop-up at Tokyo’s Isetan and a pre-launch at Moncler Fifth Avenue on October 14, before arriving globally at selected Moncler stores and online on October 15.
