One of Australia’s buzziest models, Libby Taverner made her runway debut during the fall 2025 season. Since then, her career has been a frenetic blur. For spring 2027, she walked no fewer than 27 shows, Matthieu Blazy’s Chanel among them. When the storied French house decided to reprise its resort 2027 show in Sydney, it was no surprise the 20-year-old was given a ring.

The Sydney show not only marked a significant moment for Chanel—it was their first Australian outing since 1982—but also for the young model. “It’s still relatively early in my journey of living overseas. Being able to come home and walk a Chanel show in Australia feels incredibly special, and it’s an opportunity that I honestly didn’t imagine would come around so soon,” she told Vogue.

“There’s just a little sparkle in my heart knowing that I’m doing something so incredible in my home country. It makes me feel really proud,” she added.

For Taverner, the show meant that she could serve as a guide to her fellow model friends and industry peers, many of whom were experiencing their first times Down Under. Lucky for them, Taverner considers herself an expert at all things Australia, as she grew up in multiple parts of the country. “I was born in Gladstone, Queensland, before my family decided to travel around Australia,” she says. “We spent a couple of years in Perth and Bundaberg too.”

Her top Sydney recommendation? Hitting the Australian coastline. “There’s something for everyone, whether you want to swim, surf, or go for a coastal walk, or simply spend some time relaxing in the sun.” Catching the sunset at the beach with some fish and chips or and a pitstop at Yo-Chi for some fro-yo are must-dos too. “It’s such a simple thing, but to me it’s a very quintessential Australian experience.”

But most importantly for those wanting the full Aussie experience, Taverner recommends taking a step back and slowing down. “The best way to experience Australia is to slow down, explore a little, and embrace that relaxed outdoor lifestyle that we’re so lucky to have.”
