There are days when getting dressed feels like an unnecessary inconvenience: Jennifer Lawrence, it seems, has found a workaround. Spotted out in New York City, the actor and recent beauty brand founder appeared to have taken the comforts of home quite literally onto the streets.

Lawrence stepped out in a super cozy take on “the coat is the outfit” formula, with a sumptuous velvet, floor-sweeping chartreuse house coat New York designer Colleen Allen as the focal point. The jacket features a high neckline, fabric-covered buttons, and slouchy, oversized fit. Underneath, Lawrence doubled down on the yellow-green palette with a lime Miu Miu wool cardigan, worn over a white T-shirt and loose black trousers. On her feet was a pair of textured, fuzzy black slippers.

She carried a woven tote from Tory Burch’s spring 2027 collection, and added oversized Dita Scandal sunglasses, a gold Sidney Garber necklace, her go-to emerald-set ring from Yi Collection, and her Alison Lou engagement ring. Her har was swept into a low ponytail secured with a cream scrunchie, with her wispy bangs falling around her face.

J Law has long excelled at high-low dressing, mixing cool-girl emerging designers with her covetable collection of vintage accessories and staples from Leset and La Ligne. The look also continued Lawrence’s affection for Allen’s designs, as well as the rather unexpected but now-trending shade of chartreuse. Earlier this summer, she wore a three-piece silk-georgette ensemble in the zesty color by New Zealand label Harris Tapper, while she has previously worn one of Allen’s celery-colored velvet skirts.

The arrival of fall is no reason to retreat into the usual browns, grays, and blacks—a pop of color has long been a transeasonal Jennifer Lawrence signature. Just recently, she rolled out a slime green Bolide, one of Hermès’s lesser-known models, but sky blue and cherry red make regular street style appearances, too. Consider this a PSA to leave your neutrals—but not your loungewear—at home.
